so how does the prodigy work? what does it plug into? do u have to put the wire all the way back to the bumper?

 

Hey guy we will need more info to be able to give you a accurate response. like year model of truck if it has tow package kind of brakes the trailer has( if you have it)

 

The Prodigy like most electric brake controllers works off 4 wires.
Black wire.....12v postive
White...........Ground
Red..............Brake Pedal Switch
Blue.............Trailer Brake Feed

The Prodigy works off of a pendulum effect and as the tow vehicle attempts to stop it creates a pendulum swing which tells the brake controller to send power to the trailer electic brakes. It is adjustable for trailer weight which is set manually by the driver in the tow vehicle.

There will need to be a wire run from the brake controller to the rear of the tow vehicle for the brake feed of the electric brake controller, in this case a Prodigy.

Most vehicles that are set up to tow from the factory will have the wires pre-run to the back of the tow vehicle as well as fuses and relays to protect the tow vehicle wiring.

Ford has done this on all their trucks since 1997....some previous.
There will be a plug under the dash in these models that the brake controller will plug into.
