Towing Dolly or Trailer?

I'm looking into getting an attachment for my 91 4.9 to pull cars (Mostly the smaller japanese cars like my RX-7 and my buddy's miata). I'm trying to decide if a dolly or a trailer would be a better bet price AND utility wise. I can't find any good dollies for less than 800-1000 and haven't looked at any trailers.

I'm sort of leaning towards a trailer cause I could also use it for other stuff like all my crap when I get kicked out of my apartment.

Anyone have some opinions on this and or prices on trailers? Also any good truck accessory stores around the dallas area thanks

I use a dolly several times each week and car trailers several times each month. For a disabled but rolling vehicle, the dolly is easier to load. Other than that I prefer the trailer for a bunch of reasons. But trailers are around 1000# extra weight, so play that into your equation.

The advantage to a trailer is going to be things like brakes and the ability to use a weight distribution hitch. Both or one of which may be required in your state, depending upon the total weight being towed.

Besides what Kingfish51 said, a dolly has better aerodynamics and less weight (5-700 pounds vs. 2000), but no brakes.

I towed my '85 RX-7 on a dolly from Detroit to Boston, about 850 miles. Worked great. Miata weighs about the same.
