Is anyone pulling a horse trailer w/F150???
Towed the 8500 rather well. Wind resistance must have been terrible as the Zukis sit about 3' higher than the top of the ford. Had no problem hitting 70mph and keeping 60+ on even the worst hills. Took it out of overdrive for pretty much the entire trip and still maintained 12mpg. This is with 4x4, 3.55, 4.6l and auto
Personally I think a V8 4.6 should be able to pull 6000 pounds fine, make sure to have trailer brakes, so much easier on the vehicle, also you might wanna invest in an aluminum horse trailer rather than a new vehicle, could be a lot cheaper

Is a f150 with 5.4 auto and 3.73 going to be safe ??? The specs say up to 9200# w/ 7200 gvwr. but i learned the hard way with the 98 it can barley tow itself loaded. Jerry
With my '02 and '04 F-150 with 5.4, I have pulled my 2-horse trailer all over the midwest and I even made a trip to Reno, Nevada. The F-150 with the 5.4 and 3.73 gears will have no problem pulling your 6,000# trailer. If you are towing long distances, make sure you get the optional 35-gallon gas tank or you will be looking for gas stations every few hours.
