Mounting the Prodigy
I'll third this one...
There's a small 'flange' of metal that wraps from the edge of the dash trim back towards the firewall immediately adjacent to the e-brake release. To me (and oodles of others), this was easily the best mounting location.
You're very close to the brake controller plug in (located behind the aforementioned trim next to the steering system) and have several safe places to 'zip tie' the excess wire out of sight and safely out of mind.
If I have time tomorrow, I'll show you my mount but, you'll see it if you poke around in the area immediately to the right of the emergency brake release -- to me, this looked like an area where it was meant to be mounted.

I don't have the Prodigy either, but doesn't it have to be mounted level for this type of controller to work?
I've got a 1997 F150, but I mounted mine on the left side of the steering wheel on the fuse door panel. I used the 'pocket' mount, so I can remove it if needed. I can reach the manual slide lever without having to look at it or feel for it. That's an important consideration when mounting a brake controller, as that allows you to easily apply only the trailer brakes if needed.

I have seen them for around 115 so I was wondering if I should get it since I hear so much about them.
Pro's and con's?

I have had absolutely perfect performance from my Prodigy, and am glad I spent a little more for the best.
I had a cheapie controller when I first got my trailer. Was supposed to be an 'enertia' based setup... Well, it basically sucked. Yes, it applied the trailer brakes. Can't deny that! Had to keep resetting it for city driving and hwy driving, otherwise it was a very jerky ride.
Heard about the Prodigy, and decided to get one. What a difference! Very smooth braking now, yet you know the trailer brakes are working.
I've not tried any other "high quality" controller, so I can't really say how it compares to them, but for around $100, you'll get a very good controller in the Prodigy...

Mine is a Hidden Hitch pictured in the previous post. It has an adjustment for mounting it on angles. I have been using it for two years now. It works good.
I'm not sure what is different with the other brands but it has an adjustment for how hard the brake are applied, how fast they're applied and the adjustment for mounting on angles as well as the lock up button on the right front side.
This one retails for around 80 dollars. I've been happy with it.

It can be easily slid out of the holster/mounting bracket if you want to take it out of the vehicle, and has a power saving mode to help eliminate draw on your battery.
If you want jerk-free towing & braking, this unit is great. Also has limited lifetime warranty. I know this sounds like an advertisement, but after using this controller with 2 trailers, and speaking with many other RV'ers, it's pretty much ananymous amongst most.
Do some research on the net, and you should find a lot of positive feedback and user reviews to support this.
If this thing was 5-6 times the price of most, then it might be a bit less compelling, but it's not, and it makes no sense to skimp in my opinion.
With respect to installation....I paid $25 to have it done in my F150...wire harness was already there, and it was a pretty simple.
