super duty plug in bed problems

I put a alternate 7-way plug in the bed to go with my 5th wheel hitch. I keep having problems with the operation of the factory installed brake control. The rear plug works fine. When we run a diagnostic in the bed plug every thing works too. However when i am pulling my trailer I keep getting a fault-disconnect alert.

How did you connect the "bed plug" to the truck's main harness? If you don't have time to crap around with wiring, just hook the trailer's wires to the rear plug. You can make your own extension cord if the wires don't reach. I'm not that familiar with brake controllers, so I don't know the specifics of your error, but if it's a short of some kind, you really need to get that fixed before you burn your truck up.

It could very well be a short or loose wire in the trailer too.
