drop hitch

What drop do I need to tow a 18ft inboard boat? I got a 6" RCD lift with a 3" body lift, and 37X13.5 procomp tires.

You gotta measure the height of the trailers tongue as it sits when it's level. This will be somewhere between 15-18" on average.

The drop required will then be what the distance from the top of your receiver to the ground is subtracted from the height of the trailer tongue.

For example, if you measure the tongue of the trailer to be 18" from the ground to make it level, and you measure your receiver to be 24" from the ground, subtract 18 from 24 and that leaves you with a 6" difference. That should be the drop it'll take to keep the trailer level.

Just keep the receipt when you buy one and try it out.... Or, if the store lets you take it out to measure, all the better! Just make sure the base of where the ball mounts is the same height as where you measured on the trailer....

Good luck!

Mitch

97on37's,

where did you get that lift, how much was it, did you put it on yourself, and where'd you get them tail lights?

I have a '00 scab identical in colour to yours, and I had been holding off muying tail lights cuz i didn't know how they'd look with my colour, but now I've seen yours I think I'm gonna go for it!

Do you have any more pics??

Tanner

I have this adjustable hitch and love it. Only $56 from hitchesonline. THat combined with a Convert-A-Ball is ultimate towing flexibility.

6" up or down. It's available with either a 2" and a 2 5/16" ball or a 2" and a 1 7/8" ball. Go to ebay and search for Rapid Hitch. I bought this hitch because I'd never have to change ***** and it looks sweeeeet.

EDIT: This is the guy I got it from, he's the cheapest on eBay. And also I've discovered that there is also an extra long 10" drop version also.
