Towing Car with 4.6

I have a 2002 F150 S/C 4x4 with a 4.6L auto 3.55s. I plan on towing my '89 GT to the track (about 125mi round trip) and the car weighs around 3000lbs. I'm going to buy a 18ft open bed car hauler with electric brakes....will I be able to tow this safely? Thanks.

Should be. My friend uses a 4.6 to tow his Sentra racecar to the track and a whole bunch of spares. Won't win any drag races and you will need to watch the tach to make sure the torque converter stays locked (if it unlocks, try to downshift a gear or take it out of OD) but it will be fine otherwise.

Make sure to load it so you optimize tongue weight as well. Since the butt-stain (sorry, couldn't help it ) is nose heavy, you may end up wanting to back it onto the trailer, depending on how it sits (it should only lower the rear end a couple of inches, but not noticeable lower than the front) or try to keep the car as far back as possible (make sure you don't end up with negative tongue weight though).
