Torque on Hitch Bolts?

Torque on Hitch Bolts?

Like it says, anyone know how much to torque the bolts to on the hitch? I took mine off in the spring and have to tow a trailer again. Back on it goes!

The closest thing I could find is the installation instructions for a class III hitch I had installed on our Windstar. It had 1/2-13, gr 5, bolts torqued at 75 ft lbs. The bolts should be re-checked after towing a short while.

Any shop manual will have torque specs for a specific grade and size of bolt, just look up the bolt that you're using.

A good auto parts store might know too.
