brake controller wiring
It should, and if you don't already know, you will need to add the 7 pin connector at the bumper. You should just be able to pick up the 7 pin from Ford and it will connect into the wiring harness where your existing flat 4 pin is. The connection point is right around where the spare tire is, up along the frame rail.
Good luck!

I have a 97 and thought it had the tow package b/c it had the plug under the dash. Well I pluged everything in and then realised someone had put an adaptor from a 4 pin to a 7 pin on the back. I need to run a wire for the breaks, and charging the trailer battery. Where do I tap in for this. I checked my fuse box under the hood and I have all the fuses in for towing. Where do they relays go that are needed for this?
If memory serves. You shouldn't need to run any wires to the back. If you reach up on the drivers side frame rail you will find an orange wire and a blue wire, the blue wire is for the brakes, the orange wire is hot when the key is on only (used to charge battery). If the truck has a plug on it and it was used you shouldn't have to worry about any relays, they should already be in. There aren't any relays for the brake and charge wires, they are on 30 amp fuses.
Actually, one of the relays is for the 12v charge wire.... It's so the trailer battery won't draw power when the ignition is off and the trailer is still connected to the truck. The other relay is for reverse lights on the trailer, if so equiped.....
The brake control is a fused wire.
The relays are in the fuse box under the hood and just plug in. I don't recall the exact position, but it is shown in the owners manual.
