Question How Big Of A Trailer Has Anyone Hauled With A New Supercrew? Please Help!!

I need to know what people think about towing a large trailer with their new Supercrew! I am thinking of getting one, but not sure about towing with it.

Thanks!

I tow a 27' TT. There are pics in my sig. It weighs about 6500lbs empty. Pulls very well, but you have to watch the hitch weight as you will go over on the gross weight of the truck before you exceed the GVCW.

Thanks for writing back! Do you use the load leveling bars, or sway bar? I just picked up my new F-150 Supercrew Saturday and have not tried moving the trailer yet. I figure if I need to I will get the e-z lift weight distributing bars or load leveling bars, whatever they are called. I would think that would help a lot!

I do feel that it could use a little boost in power though. I used to have a F-350 with a V10 with power chip, headers and K&N FIPK. Now that had power! I am thinking about a computer chip for this one.

I have a 2wd 2001 F150 Supercrew with the 5.4 and trailer tow package. I tow a 2004 interstate trailer with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs. The trailer itself weighs 2300 lbs. I have it set up to carry my M37 Dodge Army Truck that weighs about 6000 lbs. The 8300 total pulled weight is right at the max allowed for my truck. I don't have any problems pulling or stopping this setup. I think the 2004 trucks can tow a little more than my 2001.

I have a question of my own along these lines. I'm looking for new tires (stock ones are General 255/70R16). These are mounted on the stock aluninium wheels. Can I or should I go to something else that would be"Heavy Duty". Something like the stock tires on an F250 (I think these might be 265/85R16)? Any suggestions? I haven't had any problems with the stock size tires but I wouldn't mind haveing a little extra capacity in the tires.

Yes I use a weight distributing hitch, i.e. leveling bars

I have a new 04 super crew and have had problems from the start. Vibration at 50 mph and when pulling my fifth wheel vibration at take off. Possibly tourgue related. They have replaced the tires and put a damper on the frame. Still working with Ford on this.

I use the weight distributing hitch also. I believe it's a must when towing over 5000 lbs. No vibrations or other problems. I did take it out to the local scale and put the trailer jack on the scale to find out the tongue weight with my M37 at different points. Then I built "wheel stops" in order to get it at the same point each time.

I use a 04 F250 6.0 SD CC to pull my 26' TT. Not a problem. I do use the load levelers as well as the sway bar. Only takes a few minutes to install.

ashrat 245/75/16 tires are oem on many 3/4 ton trucks...same overall diameter (or real damn close) to 255/70/16, but are usually available in load range E....any more weight, worry about axles, not tires
