Sync 3

Sync 3
Hey Guys,
As I'm sure some of you know, Ford just announced Sync 3 the other day. I've personally never used Sync, however it looks like a welcome update to the current system. They're dropping Microsoft's My Ford Touch for Blackberry's QNX operating system. Also being added is a capacitive touch screen which will enable more smartphone like interactions such as pinch to zoom.
My question is if anyone knows which 2015 models, if any, are going to have the new system?
Some articles say that some 2015's will have it, whereas some articles say it won't be available on any vehicle until 2016. A third article said that "it will ship first on an unnamed Ford model in 2015."
If anyone knows more, please enlighten me.
[Edit] Answer: 2016 model year vehicles.

Hi Kenn213,
I'd love to enlighten you!! SYNC 3 will launch in 2015 on several models, and migrate to all 2016 MY vehicles in North America by the end of 2016. That's about all the details I can give, but stay tuned! We'll provide more information when we announce our 2016 MY product info.

If my reading between the lines is correct, it sounds like we won't see this until 2016 model year vehicles, which may launch at the mid/end of 2015?

Thanks for trying Rebecca, but this didn't really help me much. I was planning on ordering a truck just after Christmas, however if Sync 3 is going to appear in early 2015 I'll just wait. On the other hand if I'm going to be waiting until the end of 2015 I might as well just order now.

Okay thanks Kim. That clears it up for me. I'm just going to go ahead and order a truck and we'll see what happens in 2016... The Sync 2 / MFT will be miles ahead of what's in my '04 F150 anyway.

I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures once you choose the perfect 2015 model.

Kim, do us a favor and tell the engineers and bean counters to not integrate the audio controls such as balance, fader, bass, and treble into the external amplifier on sync 3. Leave them in the MFT deck itself. On the current MFT/sony system it's a royal pain in the backside to upgrade to better sound. On mine I had to run a line out convertor on the output of the sony amp to drop the signal down to line level, then run my own EQ and crossover to fix the bad eq curve that is built into the sony amp, then finally reamplify the signal with my own amps. The audiophile setup on the 04-08 F150's and the mach systems on the mustangs were so much easier and simpler to modify, not to mention cheaper. The only other option is to rip out everything and start from scratch, and lose sync and the steering wheel controls.

The audio mods my good colleague referred to? That horse left the barn long ago... and further, I don't think anyone at the dealership would even know what he was looking at if they inspected Red's current system.
I also do wholeheartedly agree with him - those controls have no business being in the amp. Some Millennial engineer did not get enough milk that morning
Cheers
