Steering Wheel Control issues

Don't know if this a Sync specific issue but I'm posting here anyways. I've been having problems with the buttons on the steering wheel. Volume down will sometimes turn the volume up. Volume up will sometimes change stations. Its only those two buttons. I've complained to my dealer a couple of times but they can never replicate the problem.

This morning, I took a quick video of it to show them.

I have the same issue in mine. Sometimes the 'volume up' will switch the stations on me. I can't repeat it on-demand it seems to happen randomly.

Huh

I'm having similar issues but they did not start until after I updated the sync to the current one.
Some times when in USB mode it will only go backwards even if i push forward bottom meaning next selection and the cruise control will not engage ?? sometimes I can fix the selection bottom by unplugging the MP3 player but not always.
and turning of the truck and then back on fixes all issues until next time... soem times days sometimes next drive??

Hey everyone!

I recommend trying a master reset. Locate your system then click on the matching link for instructions: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-t...c-version.html

SYNC (basic system) and SYNC with MyFord: http://owner.ford.com/sync-technolog...ter-reset-sync

SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation: http://owner.ford.com/sync-technolog...ync-navigation

SYNC with MyFord Touch: http://owner.ford.com/sync-technolog...c-myford-touch

Hi, there is a fix for this. I had the same problem and it turns out there is a short circuit behind the air bag. At my dealership they went through the troubleshooting guide and one of the steps is testing for a short. Mine tested positive for the short circuit so the part was replaced and I no longer have this issue. I had this issue for a very long time (steering wheel volume button would change stations, mp3 tracks, etc) and my original dealer couldn't fix it. I took this to a new dealer in town and their techs fixed it without even blinking an eye. In looking at my invoice I see the following parts were replaced: 12651D BODY/CHASSIC/ELECTRICAL (BCE) - TEST. The actual part replaced to fix: 1AL3Z9C888AA SWITCH ASY - CONTROL and then maybe something calledf the 12650D43 ACTUATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY - SPEED CONTROL. It's hard to understand the work order but it looks like they did a pin test/short test on each one of the switches in the steering wheel controls until they found the culprit. Hope this helps. The entire time I was cursing the Sync system itself because it's so buggy in general. Turns out it was an electrical short.
