I am making plans for this truck as well. Earlier this week I sold a big heavy enclosed trailer I have used to transport my Jeep in. Today I purchased an all aluminum open auto transport trailer that weighs 2000 lbs less than the other trailer did. I changed trailers specifically to get the combined Jeep/trailer weight within the towing limit of the SVT Raptor. Now I'm just squirreling money away, waiting for the order date for the 6.2 Raptor. I'm definitely going to get one.

Wow! Nice truck, but not for me. After I heard them say it has a $7,000-$8,000 shock system added, I think it confirmed that this will be another Ford blunder that will sell minimal units, and then will be discontinued. Who can really afford that type of set-up in a vehicle produced on a production line? I can't see it selling like hotcakes - especially when it's price tag will probably exceed something like a fully loaded Platinum by thousands. Granted, a Platinum may not be practical for some or most, but it's still built for the street. It just has a nicer interior with fancier options that make the drive more enjoyable. I guess 35's, high-priced shocks, a big gass guzzler engine, and mean looks can make the ride more enjoyable for the dude paying the bill.
Is there really a big demand for an off-road truck of this magnitude to basically drive over a curb on the weekend? Lets face it, a great portion of the people who drive trucks today just use them for transportation. If this thing doesn't sticker out well over $55k, I'll be very suprised. And lets see, will it even have the basic interior of an XLT or Lariat? Maybe I'm way off base, but it's not like comparing this type of vehicle to a ZR-1 Vette or a Ferrari. The basic use of vehicles today is driving on pavement. These types of cars are used daily on pavement where they are designed to run. Is the Raptor really going to be at home driving down the interstate? I guess it's more of a "look at me" type of vehicle. I just don't understand why Ford is bending over backwards in todays economy with gas prices and all to build something like this... and expect it will sell and make them a buck. I guess with this thing coming, there still my be hope for my F-150 with a diesel before I die.

you live in Illinois. There is no desert in Illinois, and this truck wasn't built for you. This truck was built for me. I have enjoyed back country exploring in the southwest desert for the last 30 years, ever since I got my drivers license. Each and every weekend I am in the desert exploring someplace I haven't been before, and traveling hundreds and hundreds of off road miles in a day is pretty much the norm. I love to get out into the outdoors and see places I haven't been before. I am also an ex-desert racer, with 25 years of racing different ATV, UTV, and motorcycle classes, so I know from experience how much of a difference suspension can make.
If you see one of these trucks in the middle of the southwest desert someday, there is a good chance it is being put to use as it was intended. If you see one on the highway in Illinois, then I agree with you, and someone spent more money than they needed to.
To each his own. I guess that is why Ford has 36 different models of the F150 this year (and that is not including different engine options).
