94 f150 4x4 front shocks

hi, my truck needs some new shocks and was wondering about the fronts.

i have seen trucks around my yr having 2 front shocks on both side, one in front of and behind the coil spring.

are these the same part #? was this a factory option? can i use them on my truck if i didnt get them from the factory?

THank you.

Mike

you can convert the truck over to quad-shocks but the ride is not drastically improved. it also makes more parts to replace when they are worn (more expense), typically the quad shocks were most common on broncos, if you wanted to get boneyard mounting hardware that would be the best place to look. in my opinion hd motorcraft single shocks work great (and cheaper than 4)
oh and by the way the shocks are different but will still mount, it will be a rough ride unless you get shocks for the quad set up

I have the factory quad shocks on my F-150. I was talking to a mechanic that I know about how stiff the ride was on my truck. He said to pull on off each side. After doing so the ride was drastically improved and handling was lost only slightly. I dont do enough driving off road to miss the extra absorbsion. The extra shocks resist travel of the spring, thus stiffer ride that is only necessary on serious off road driving. H.D. shocks will be pleanty.
