squeaky suspension?

When I go over bumps, my truck has developed sqeaky noises. What areas of the truck could this be coming from? Normally, I would just give the truck a lube job, but we all know how many grease zerks are on our trucks. I put a belltech drop on it with all new nitro-active shocks about 2 years ago, so I don't think it's the shocks, although it could be. I'm just wondering if there are any common problem areas that other people have had problems with.

thanks,
josh

what exactly needed to be replaced on your fathers truck? Did he replace the bushings or just shocks?

Thanks,
josh

try spraying a little lithium grease on your tailgate latches. mine squeaked over bumps too, and that did the trick. just to make sure, grab the bedside or tailgate and shake the truck back and forth. if it's the latches, you'll hear it.

My leaf springs have been squeaking since 15,000 miles. Ford replaced the springs and they started squeaking after 36,000...despite an extended warranty, they wouldn't replace them again. It now has 57,000 and still squeaks. A mechanic at Ford told me they have a design flaw in the leaf spring bushings...even if you lube/spray/oil/spit on them, the squeak will come back.

Anyone have luck with just replacing the bushings??

try gunk silicone spray it works for me. it keeps the rubber parts from drying out and eventually cracking, great for weather stripping also.

I have the same problem on my 97 4x4 and when I steer hard back and forth. Had it looked at, they want to replace the entire front end. New upper and lower ball joints, pittman arm, idler arm and tie rod ends. I am not sure if it needs all or they do not know which it is exactly. $700 for parts and $650 for labor. I think I will get a second opinion. Any suggestions?

Talking

I have '99 4X4 that had the squeaky rear leaf springs at 45,000 miles, it was the teflon spacers in between the leaf springs. (they keep the ends from touching another spring) they, at first, looked OK, but were worn enough to just barely touch and in turn, squeak! Replaced and no more squeak! Also, tailgate latch will also rattle. Just drive with tailgate open and see if they go away!

Were did you get the new teflon spacers? I have the same issue and FORD says they do not sell the part.

Thanks
