i have a rancho single steering stabilizer (they make duals too). im VERY happy, its definitely a worthwhile mod for people with bigger tires.

I know that this is a stupid question, but what exactly does a steerng stabilizer do? I just had 35" Procomp AT's put on last week and noticed that almost everyone on the boards with larger tires has one.

they steady the steering wheel just like a shock smooths the ride of your truck the stering stab smooths the steering and stops the wheel from pulling when you hit bumps PLUS THEY JUST LOOK COOL

Thumbs up

I just had one recommended to me the other day, by a suspension guy here in OK. He suggested it was a good idea for anyone who drove faster than normal speeds(80 plus) Like me I guess it's on the list now. Would it matter if a truck is lowered or not? That's coming up in the future of my truck.,,,,98

I know Rancho and Fab-Tech makes them for late model trucks also. I was thinking about getting one and I checked at about 3 different places (one of them being 4wheel parts) and they all said you would most likely never know it was there unless you had 1. 35" tires or bigger or 2. doing some "serious" off roading like high speed baha stuff through the desert. I decided to pass due to a lack of 1 and 2. Buy yea, they do look cool. I'm still thinking about it cause it sure ain't going to hurt anything.

If they are really only needed if you do "serious" off roading, then I sure don't need one... I don't think I've ever even driven my truck in the grass, let alone off road!!!

I guess they could stop a possible high speed shimmy? Although I can't go over 90 now with these threadbare tires. Doing so would be risking death It shakes like a paint mixer. New tires in the next week or so, I'm so psyched, hehe.,,,,98

IMO, while they are mostly needed with larger tires ( again IMO over 33) I do run on my truck with the 31.8 inch tall tire. I noticed all around better steering wheel fell at all speeds. It seems to really help when hitting a bump while going through a turn. Right now I got a shimmy from someother component so the effects are low. I plan to pull it off and drive around a day or two to check things out and remember how it feels without one. I usally do not do much over 80-85 for too long as my truck is not setup for speed and I'm sure the BFG AT's are not to highly rated on the speed chart.
I did have one guy tell me, that if your truck needs a stabilzer than you have bad suspension/steering components somewhere. I completely disagree and consider this BS.

Checkout Skyjacker for steering stabilizers.
I have 3 on my truck....and man do i need them.I had 1 of the 3 go bad and i felt the difference immediately.
It might be a good idea too,in case you get a blowout...it will somewhat control the steering and the vehicle.

Hope this helps.
