Question Performance and Suspension Mods

I am the proud new owner of a 2002 SuperCrew 4x4 King Ranch with the 5.4L. I have been researching mods to enhance performance and handling. Planned performance mods are increasing the air flow with a K&N FIPK or Air Force One setup and changing the exhaust system to a cat-back dual exhaust. Any recommendations in this area would be appreciated.

Mainly I would like some ideas on suspension changes. Can a 4x4 be lowered? I do not care about ground clearance for off-road use. Along with lowering, I am considering new shocks like the Edlebrock IAS and anti-sway bars. If I lower the truck, does the shock length change, too? I would like to lower the truck at least 2 inches. I also use it to haul a small utility trailer with 3 quads, so I do not want to loose much suspension travel when I hook up the trailer.

Any experienced advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Just a dumb question, why would you lower a 4x4?

As you can see from my sig, I've done some of what you've mentioned. Are you wanting to lower the front and rear? Mine is a 4x2 so I just put 2in drop shackles on the rear to level the truck out. If I hit the lottery I'll put a Roush pkg on I'm not sure how the shackles would work on a 4x4. The Edlebrock's drastically improve the handling, mine have the same travel as a stock shock. Edlebrocks web site can tell you the P/N for a truck tha has been dropped considerably.
I can't say that I had any noticable gains with the FIPK, though I'm sure it didn't hurt. The Gibson super truck cat back is great, increased performance, nice mellow rumble at idle and just mean sounding at WOT.
You may want to consider a chip, that will probably be my next mod.

Good Luck!
