When I purchased my truck one of the first thihngs I did was to get a manual. I purchased the Haynes. But there's others. This will help you a lot and you will get precise information on how to deal with almost all the truck parts.

I hope you can find one soon. Good luck with your project.

unbolt the torsion bar cross member. cover all the torsion bar ends with wd-40. losen the torsion bar adjuster screw. then hit the torsion bar cross member back towards the back of the truck until the adjuster end comes off of the torsion bar. Then hit the torsion bar out of the lower control arm. They are really in there, so you have to hit them pretty hard. But they do come out. And the manuals don't really tell you how to take them out. They just say pull them out. I had a heck of a time getting mine out.
good luck

Chris,

JL don't forget to jack up the truck by the frame and support it so ther is no load on the suspention. Removing the wheel will afford more room to remove the bar from the lower A arm. If you use a torsion bar tool you need not remove the cross member.
