Rear Springs
Hi,
I would like to add a leaf spring, overload spring, or ?? to enable my 4x4 98 F150 to handle my 24ft camper trailer better by not squatting so much.
I would also like to NOT affect my current 'unloaded' ride TOO much. : )
Has anyone had any luck with this issue? If so, please reply with details, prices, and locations.
Thanks,
Joe

My buddy has air bags on his front suspension to handle the extra weight of his plow. I know that kits are made for the rear suspension of our trucks too. Using the bags will allow you to have a stock ride with no load and pump it up when you need it. He's really happy with his. I'd get a set buy my pop-up only weighs about 4000lbs so my back end doesn't squat too much.
Just an opinion though.

I personally went with the overload springs. Really only because I didn't want to mess with air lines and such. Turned out for the better, in my case, because the overload springs eliminated the rear end clunk I had and the wheel hop too. Plus I can now load more then 500# in the bed and not have it draggin' it's tail.
I solved the "harsher" ride by putting on some variable valve shocks. They do the same thing as those Edelbrock (sp?) IAS ones for about $30 less per shock.
