Question Suspension Enhancements?

Last night at Home Depot, I found the only reason for me to really start thinking I needed to change my truck (99 STX 4.2L V6). As I was loading bags of concrete, at about 1.2 tons (28 80 lb bags), the suspension started sagging a bit more than I liked.

Now, I'm not saying that I think 1.2 tons of cargo is measly, but is there a way for me to beef up the suspension to carry a bit more weight? I mean, is this as easy as changing springs or going to gas shocks or something like that?

You can add a leaf to your suspension. An extra leaf will add more support, and allow for more payload capacity.

Try looking into the Hellwig EZ Level kits. They are designed for this exact scenario that you've mentioned. I think they are called the EZ Level 550 and the EZ Level 990. Basically, they are just adding leaf springs, which are adjustable, to increase your level load capacity. Anyway, I hope this helps.

Thumbs up

You could put air bag suspension on it that way you won't have a harsh ride all the time. Just pump up the bags when you're carrying somthing heavy.
