Constant or progresssive spring rate.

I have a 2000 F150 2WD with a 3.5 lift kit, 90k miles. Basically I haven't done anything but normal maintenance the last 15 years, it has never been to a shop yet. Only driven about 2000 miles a year now. Anyway, ball joints are shot (probably due to the rubber seals cracking rather than actual wear) and since I am taking the control arms off, I was thinking of replacing the springs.

So my question, does anyone know if the stock coil springs are constant or variable spring rate? I was thinking of variable for softer ride, but is that what I have already?

Also I took off the sway bar. The links were worn and I removed them. I realized I like the way it drives without it, so I have had the sway bar off for a few years. Maybe variable rate without a sway bar will make this drive like a 1970s POS Cadillac?
