How Has My Truck Been Lowered?

I recently purchased this 2004 SuperCab which has (supposedly) been lowered 4" at the rear at 2" at the front. I don't know anything about lowering/lifting vehicles and am keen to learn.

Could someone explain to me how my truck has been lowered and what it would take to either return it to stock height or give it a 2" lift above stock?

I can't see the front... Blurry. The rear has a flip kit and air bags.

Front looks like struts/coils. Stock struts & springs are black not blue

Looks like they lowered it to much and added coil spring spacers..lol
Ditch the flip kit and bags add 2 inch block and 2 inch longer than stock rear shocks and get 2 inch lift coil overs in the front for 2 inch above stock. For stock ditch the flip kit and get stock coil over replacements and possibly new rear stock length shocks. If you want it stock but level ditch the flip kit and get stock rear shocks and 2 inch lift coil overs up front.
I think I got all that right..lol

or go with factory 4wd struts/coils which will be 2" taller than 2wd struts/coils

Thank you for all the prompt and great replies! I *think* I'd like the truck levelled. So would I be getting front shocks which are 2 inches longer than stock?

And why would I need replacement rear stock shocks?

Front struts +2" over factory 2wd or stock 4wd height

Rear shocks I'd probably go ahead and replace those.
Your current rear shocks are either:
  • Stock shocks run at -4" and are worn out
  • actual 4" drop shocks which will not be compatible with stock ride height

You currently have a 1" lifting shackle in the back FYI

Unless you get a stock shackle, when you remove the flip kit, it will be 1" lift in the back.

As for the front as others have said replace with stock 4wd struts and springs and you should be a little higher , but not level because of the lifting shackle in the back.

Or just get new stock 2wd front shocks with coils and put the rear axle back under the spring and use 2wd rear shocks.
I agree, looks like someone messed up front springs.

Keep air bags for heavy load assistance?

I've done a bit more digging and Bilstein come as highly recommended. I can't seem to find any threads about anyone going from a lowered truck to a levelled one though.

Nonetheless, I see that Bilstein do an Ultimate Lift Kit. Looks like it comes with everything I would need, but at a price... Would one of you mind taking a look to see if I really do need everything in this kit and/or if there is anything which I may be missing coming from a lowered truck?

I understand that this kit will either allow me to level to stock height or lift a further 2"?

Like I have said earlier, you have a 1" lifting shackle. If you use that with the 2" block you will be lifted 3" in the rear.

Oh man AZM...., what did you do? I loved the way that F-side looked lowered .....

He'll get more than that, he'll gain a few inches in undoing that flip in the rear.

Tried selling it lowered and got no calls. Pulled the almost $2000 worth of lowering parts, and wheels and tires off. Bought some cheap used 35's to put on the stock wheels, and used a lifting shackle and leveling kit I already had and sold the $5000 truck for $7500 within 2 weeks....

Oh, well .... yeah, I can see doing that. So many more out there have to have lifted trucks .... I'm guessing the $5k was dealer trade in offered, must have had some miles on it!

I see you got a '13 now.

KBB in great condition private sale! yeah, it had a few miles, I believe 213,000 Oh and I sold it in Arizona with no working AC!

I'm glad to be in a new truck, but that Optima 2015 F150 really has me thinking about a '15 or '16
