Question Alignment of Belltech 3-4 drop

Just ordered a Belltech 3-4 lowering kit and need info on alignment. Went to a local alignment shop today and the guy there said he could only do factory alignment and that I woud have to take it to a shop that does lifted and lowered vehicles. Are the factory specs different from the lowered specs? Does the kit come with different alignment specs if any are needed? Is this something any alignment shop should be able to handle? Do I need a camber kit that I have read about in different threads and if so, Where do I purchase this camber kit? Just trying to cover all the bases before the kit arrives. Any and all responses are greatly appreciated.

Hello 2000regcab54, I installed my Belltech 3/4 a month or so ago at a local shop that does performance and suspension mods. But they didn't do alignments, so I took it back to Goodyear where I bought my tires from and they did the alignment for me. I did need to get a camber kit which they had in stock. All alignment shops should have them in stock I think. They did put the alignment back within factory specs and gave me a printout of those specs. I believe you should call around different alignment shops in your area. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do it, unless they don't want to deal with non stock suspension vehicles.

99flareside,

Thanks for the response. How does it drive with it back to factory specs? Does it track straight or does it pull any? Any pics? Did you buy the whole kit with springs, hangers, shackles and shocks. If so, did it come with the shims for the rear axle? Thanks again.

Thumbs up Belltech

The ride is pretty good. On nice straight roads it goes in a straight line. The handling has improved over stock. I still want to upgrade my swaybars so I get better handling. I bought my kit (springs, hangers, shackles, and Nitro Active shocks) from www.ultraperformance.com for $480. They also sell the kit with the Nitro (cheaper) shocks for $60 less. Yes the kit included the axle shims.

You should have enough adjustment with your mild drop, it is best to use factory alignment specs unless otherwise noted{mostly for extreme drops such as 5"7" drop

Once again, 99flareside, thanx for the response. Got my kit Friday, had it installed on Saturday. Looks good. Drives straight and true and I haven't had it aligned yet. Corners like a car. Tires look like everything is straight and right. If it was out of alignment, could you tell just by looking at it?

Apparently not! Before I got my alignment it didn't look like it had too much negative camber. But the alignment shop told me it was real bad! Whether or not it was that bad I don't know but either way I wanted it aligned.

I'm probably gonna have mine aligned sometime this week. I put a four inch lift on an Explorer once and everything was way out of whack (steering wheel turned 90 degrees) until I had it aligned. That's why I was so amazed at how good this thing looks without the alignment. I had it 75 mph down the highway and it drove perfectly. Thanks one more time for you response.
