Lifting my '03 F150 4wd

So after reading through more threads than I can count to, I figured I would start one regarding a lift kit for my truck. I honestly know very little about lift kits, so any help is greatly appreciated. I am looking for something between 4-6 inches, and want a suspension lift, not a body lift.

I'm currently looking at Fabtech, Procomp, or Rough Country as my choices, however some have a 6" lift for $500, while others have a 6" lift for $1,400. Obviously this is where I get confused. Are the cheaper kits "cutting corners" so to speak? I see some with springs, some without. Others have blocks with add-a-leaf, others don't.. etc etc.

I plan on using it as a daily driver, and will never be doing any heavy hauling with it, just a snowmobile trailer most likely.

Perhaps I could list what the kits include and you guys could help me from there? Thanks in advance for the help!

Any kit for your truck shouldn't have springs, you don't have any form of spring up front. You have torsion bars. So possibly your looking at kits for 2wd's in the 97-03 range which would use coil springs.

Yeah I realize that now, hence why I ask before buying haha. Rough Country has a 5" kit I am liking, component list is as follows.

Front
◾Lifted knuckles
◾Upper skid plate
◾Differential skid plate
◾Front 3-piece crossmember
◾Rear 3-piece crossmember
◾Extended sway-bar links
◾Bump-stop brackets
◾Torsion bar drop brackets
◾Hardware

Rear
◾4in lift blocks
◾U-bolts
◾Hardware

Shocks
◾(4) Premium N2.0 series

Haven't decided on wheels/tires yet, but is regearing a must in your opinion? Looking at 33's, maybe 35's.

Depends on tire size and what the factory gears are.

Also, a lot depends on how YOU use YOUR truck. If you don't constantly do a lot of heavy towing/hauling you can probably live with the stock 3.55 or 3.73 gears and 35's.
