Burning Smell

Not sure if I have this question in the right area, but I just noticed this when I walked around my truck today. There was a burning like smell coming from around my passenger front tire. Not sure what would be the cause. Its a 2006 FX4, any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Most likely a stuck caliper, causing the brakes to overheat. Get it fixed soon or you will be replacing more than just pads.

Seized caliper? That one seems to go bad on these trucks a lot. Twice to me so far

So is a seized caliper an expensive fix, or can I do it myself? And thanks for the help

Your best bet is to replace the caliper. You may have to replace pads and rotors. those should be replaced on both sides. I believe with the anti-lock brakes, bleeding is not a straight forward process.
That assumes that the problem is the caliper.

I will *strongly* advise changing all flex lines. I'm doing that to mine since I'm loosing my 2nd caliper on that one spot.

When you replaced your calipers, did you get the upgraded ones? The 04 had a big problem with calipers sticking and the changed the design of caliper and rotor, both front and rear. Once this was done, the problem seemed to go away. Now with a vehicle 7 or more years old, I can see it happening no matter what the design as age causes component to degrade.

I did but not the flex lines. The brakes aren't even a year old
