Spring Swap

I have a 1996 F-150. would I be able to take the rear leaf springs and front coil springs out of an F-250 of the same era and put them in my truck without making any drastic modifications to my truck? Thanks!

I've seen guys do this before on here. You'll gain about 2" of lift up front, unsure about the rear.

You should be good with factory size shocks.

yeah, the spammer is obnoxious, but can we get back to the original question of switching suspension? I know the leafs are 2.5" on the 150 and 3" on the 250. Will I need to use the brackets off the 250, or will everything line up?

yep, you MAY need to drill holes to match, but i doubt that will be needed.

You'll need to swap the spring perches from the f250 over also, not just the shackles.

And have you already measured th eye to eye distance on them to see if they're the same size as yours? And if they do swap the ride most likely be rough due to the fact the f250 springs won't have as much weight on them as before.

I found some "leaf helper springs" at O'Reillys that boost the load capacity by 1,500lbs. I'd upload a pic, but I can't from my phone. It's a simple bolt on assembly. Has anyone used these?

Add-a-Leaf? They're commonly used, give around 1.5-2" of lift.

However even with the added capacity of those and the f250 springs you still can't go over what your truck is rated for.
