Trailmaster or Rancho?

Anyone have any experience with Trailmaster 4 inch lift? How about Rancho 6 inch? 4wheelparts has both but there is about 400-500 diff. in price.

Thanks,
Mike

When did Rancho make a 6" lift for 4x4 fords?

I wish I could speak from experience, but I can't. However, I can speak from doing my own homework that Rancho is by far superior to Trailmaster for suspension lifts for our trucks.

Rancho and Trailmaster both have 4" lifts. Rancho does not have a 6". Trailmaster is less expensive and makes good products, but Rancho is by far better quality. Compare the two kits at their websites and you'll see. I havent had any experience with trailmaster, only Rancho, so i cant tell you from personal experience.

Cool

If you want to spend $400.00 more on your suspension lift, go with Rancho. I have had the Trailmaster 4" lift on for two weeks now and my truck rides and looks great..(Now Im just saving for some bigger meats)

I did alot of research as well.between rancho and trailmaster rancho is the kit.But the best kit out there for the 4x4 f-150 is herehttp://www.racecardynamics.com/ do an honest comparison and you will come up with RCD.RCD is owned buy the very guy that was Rancho's head designer for the last 5 years.check out there website and get there phone # and give them a call, you will be glad you did. Also remember this, you get what you pay for. Here is a link to some pictures I took while installing my kithttp://members.home.net/linedog/truck_picx.html
Here you will see CV angle, rear add a leaf's(not block's like rancho)and some other shots you might like.please feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Talking

Alright then buddy, from the info that you are hinting at that Trailmaster is crap (I know three people who have had the kit well over a year and half minimum who have had zero problems) I should be expecting for something to break.

All a matter of choice

Everyone seems to talk bad about Trailmaster because they use spacers in the front rather than replacing the steering knuckle, which in turns lowers the price. RCD only lowers your differential 2inches and increases your CV drive angles. As for problems? I have heard of people with RCD kits breaking CV because of increased angles. Trailmaster? The only thing I have heard was that someones front end had problems but was traced back to the Pitman arm being bad to begin with. Rancho? Haven't heard to much about them, does mean they are the best either. Talk to your friends who have the kits ride with see the difference (feel) see what problems they had. I know there are a lot of people who swear by their brand, whether it be Ranco, Trailmaster, of RCD. Trailmaster has been making their kit for a long time, if it was such a weak suspension or had other problems, there would have been changes. The way they conduct their lift (spacers on the upper ball joint) has been around for a long time. Toyotas (of the Trailmaster brand suspension lifts) used the same type of lift(spacers) as they use now on Fords.

Probably lots of blab and no filler, but it's my thoughts

I couldnt agree with you more, Cope. I think all the kits are fine, if they weren't they wouldnt be on the market.

I never said trailmaster was crap!(buddy)I to looked at the kit.but depending on his tranny for $200 more he could get a RCD witch is better than the trailmaster. As for CV angle on the RCD does this look like to much to you?

I never mentioned that the CV angle was too much, bud...that was cope. And by the way the RCD kit for the 5.4 liter engine is $600 more than the Trailmaster.

Thumbs up Thanks for the input!

To all that took the time to reply, I thank you!

Went to 4Wheelparts today and looked at the Rancho, Trailmaster and Pro Comp. Decided on the Rancho for several reasons;

1. Reputation
2. They had one there that had just been completed, I liked it.
3. 100.00 off of Installation
4. Found it for less elsewhere and they matched the price

I will also add 33-12.50 16 Pro Comp ATs on Weld Stonecrusher wheels.

Hope to have some pics soon.

Mike
