Upgrading to Coilovers... TUNE IN

Hey guys

Havent been on the forum in yrs but thought I'd stop by for an update.

I've been running my Fabtech stage 1 lift kit on my F150 for a little over 4 yrs now. Not too many complaints with it except my struts are starting to wear out. my passenger strut is starting to leak a little bit and my truck is slowly starting to ride like a dump truck

Im the type of person that when i replace a part I upgrade. So I figured instead of buying new Fabtech struts i would upgrade to coilovers.

After a little research i decided on Sway-A-way. I looked into Dirl logics, Pro-comps, Kings ect. Sway-A-Way was a no brainer decision for me.

My coilovers were built and shipped out 2 days ago. Once i receive them i will install them and post tons of pics. I "might" do a writeup on the install.

So here is what im starting with. My truck is my DD/tow rig for my Jeep.

And heres my other toy

STAY TUNED

Not to start a pissing contest, but your truck has coil-overs now; that's what the stock items are. They're not struts even though some stores refer to them as such. You're simply upgrading to aftermarket coil-overs.

Small update.

Went out of town for a little over a week for work, returned today and my Coilovers were sitting in my living room.

I snapped a couple pics

Make sure of your application and proper part numbers. You sounded confused and will put parts on not fitting maybe. Those look mighty nice if they fit. LOL

How do I look confused? I researched different bolt in coilovers and settled on Sway-a-way coilovers built for a 2004-2008 F150 2WD with a 6" fabtech lift. sounds pretty straight forward

Well Im pretty much done with the install.

Heres my little, basic write up.

First heres the most recent pic I have of the truck. This is from just a couple days ago

First thing I did was obviously jack up the front and remove the tires

Heres a pic of the my old setup.

Next I unbolted the upper control arm from the knuckle. after that I unbolted the upper and lower mounting on the Fabtech strut and removed it.

Everything removed

Fabtech strut next to Sway-a-way Coilovers.

And another

Next all you do is put everything back together in reverse order. Its a real easy job and doesnt take long at all

finished with the new coilovers

the truck looks level in this pic but its not. I still need to crank the coilovers for about 1-2" more lift. I'll get to that tomorrow

Thats all guys
