Torsion bar leveling
Torsion bar leveling
hey guys i have a 2002 f150 super crew 5.4 and i just got done trying to level my truck using the torsion bar keys well when i crawled under the truck the bolt on the passenger side had about about 3/4'' thread left to max it out and the driver side had about 1 1/4'' to 1 1/2'' of threads left to be maxed out but the driver and passenger fender wheels were exactlty 36 1/4'' off the ground so they were both equal so i maxed them out and the passenger side went up to 36 5/8'' from the ground and driver side went up to roughly around 37 1/2'' off the ground, does anyone know why there so off and why the passenger side bolt was already tightened up so much and the driver side wasnt and both sides were off the ground at equal height i thought about maybe putting a spacer in between the passenger side bolt and torsion key so it would be equal with driver side but wasnt sure if it would mess anything up, if anybody has any info please let me know cuz i lowered the driver back down to the same height as the passenger side is cuz i didnt want one side higher than the other and ive got a bunch more room to level it out so any info would be really appreciated thanks
I just cranked up the tortion bars on my 03 fX4. The rear height was 38 1/4 and the front was 37 I turned them in about 3/4 of an inch each and there is only about 1/8" till they are tight. But it leveled the truck out.
Can't explain why; truck doesn't weight exactly 50/50% from side to side would explain some of it. Every truck is different also. Regardless, as mentioned it's completely normal and does not noticeably affect ride, handling, nor safety. Best technique is to crank both bolts full in til they bottom out. Then back off the higher side to level out the truck to your tastes, and you're good!
