Bilstein vs leveling kit

I am ready to do a leveling kit on my 2010 4x4 screw and I keep reading about three ways to go...rancho, bilstein and autospring seem to be the most talked about. I am very interested in the autospring or bilstein but I am wondering if anyone can tell me how the bilstein leveling kit works? From what I have read, it seems like all you replace is that shock and retain the stock spring? If anyone has an opinion, positive or negative, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your help

I think the newer ones come with a spring already installed, but I could be wrong.
