Pro Comp Pro Runner SS leveling shocks

4-wheel parts is offering free installation on them, which seems like a nice perk.

Has anyone tried these out? They are apparently supposed to be a competitor to the Bilstein 5100s. I am curious to know how comfortably they ride. I don't do any serious offloading but wouldn't mind a little sportier feel in my truck provided it didn't feel too rough on the highway for road trips.

They are a relatively new product, so I don't think many people have tried them, but Pro Comp makes good products so I would assume that these are good. With any leveling shock/spacer you are going to get a rougher ride because they put the suspension at greater that stock angles. With that said, you should still have a comfortable riding truck and I doubt that it will make it too uncomfortable to drive, unless you are the type of person that wants your truck to ride like a Cadillac.

It's not the angles that affects ride or induces any change in it, it's the preload on the spring that makes it stiffer; leveling shocks like this preload (compress) the stock spring further than it was on the stock shock. This is what gives you your perceived lift and your perceived (if any) increase ride firmness. Also, I use firmness because roughness implies that it's a negative thing

I just installed these on my 05 FX4 today. They seem good, rides nice although a little stiffer but not overly rough. Easy install. I was wondering what size larger i can go on the tires without any rubbing. Currently i'm running the stock tires on it now. Ill post something more once i drive the truck for a few days.
