Rear Leaf Springs-Offset
WTF??!! (a picture is worth a thousand words)
Left rear, looking forward:

Right rear, looking rearward:

I tried taking the load off the spings and hammering em with the BFH, but they didn't budge.
Looks like I need a new spring pack, or at least try loosening the u-bolts and adjusting from there?
In the long run, I do believe I want some heavier springs anyway, (for towing my boat) so I might just start checking for some good used ones at our one and only local bone yard.

You should have taken a pic of both from either rear or front, not one from rear and one from front. As it is, looks like the front of the helper overload is inwards and the rear end is outwards. Just loosen the U-bolts a little .... and straighten them.
If you do, retorque (in even steps) the U-bolts to about 80-90 ft lbs .... or check the shop manual for a '98. ( My '07 uses a 9/16" diameter U-Bolt and they spec 98 ft lbs.)
It's not really a problem though .... the main leaves are what allign the rear axle. They've only been like that since 1998.

Thanks.
They are both offset the same direction.
I've got the factory manuals, so will look up the torque specs.
Just thinkin here...
It would also be a good time to dump the 2" blocks, since this rig won't see any heavy duty off-roading, other than typical Montana dirt roads.
I'll have to see how far I can go down with the torsion bars first, then decide on removing the blocks or not.
I did finally figure out to search for "crooked" leaf spring, and noticed this a fairly common problem.
