Leveling kit = torn cv boot?

One of my friends installed a 2.5 inch front leveling kit on his 06 f150. I don't know the specific brand but it is just a round spacer that goes on top of the strut assembly. After a month he had a torn cv boot in the front. Is this a common occurrance? I wanted to do mine but not if the boots are going to tear or the cv joints prematurely fail. Any thought or opinions?

If it happened a month after install, i'd say it was a pre-existing condition.

Does he offroad the hell out of it and use 4x4 alot?

the leveling kit itself shouldn't tear the CV boot. it was most likely cause by him offroading or something and tearing it

Original owner, 60,000 miles. Just makes me hesitant to try a leveling kit if it migh tear the cv boot. I like the looks of it.

it wouldn't tear within a month due to a 2.5" leveling kit. The angle of the CV's aren't severe, there is an outside source that caused it or it was a pre-existing condition.

There are hundreds of members just on this forum alone running 2.5" leveling kits who have put thousands of miles on their trucks w/ no issues.

I have had my truck leveled for 100,000 kms so far and I have broken most everything else but haven't torn a boot so I would say something else caused it...

the factory can tear after a leveling kit...installed a 2 inch leveling kit on my 05 FX4...within a week...driver side boot ripped...a month later...passanger side ripped..so 2 new half shafts from autozone and 10,000 miles later...no problems...I'm guessing the factory boots were probably a bit dry rotted and didn't like the new angle...half shafts weren't to bad to change...and they came with a nice warranty...
