I'm Looking To Get A Rough Country 6" Suspension Lift. I'd Like To Know If There Are Any Shops In Ohio That Anyone Has Had There Lift Installed At And Cost For Total Kit And Install? How Difficult Would It Be To Install Myself I Installed My 2.5" Rough Country Level Kit On My 2007 F150 4X4. How Important Is Regearing I Have 3.55 Now With 33" Tires And Leveling Kit. Is It Necessary To Regear To 4.56 If I Want 35" Tires. What Is The Downside To Keeping My 3.55 Gears?
If you have the tools(air tools obviously) the time, your head is square on your shoulders and a few buddies then it is not that hard, just time consuming. The downside to 3.55's and 35's is very down on power and bad gas mileage.
How Do I Get My F150 4X4 Regeared Do You Get A Whole New Axle In The Front And Back Or Just Pinions And Gears For A 4.56 Conversion From 3.55? How Much Do They Cost And Can I Do It Or Does It Need Done By A Professional?
Looking at anywhere from 800-1500 out the door depends on your shops labor rates

Dealership might, but they'll scrap your warranty most likely and charge you way over. Expect to spend about 1400 to 1700 to get a shop to do it including parts. Parts alone will run you about half of install cost and if you have even the slightest idea that you might not be able to do it, get it done in a shop. It isn't something you want to mess up because the parts aren't cheap.
You can do it yourself with proper tools as long as you're mechanically inclined and can follow instructions. And don't be afraid to have to cut part of the factory bracket for the rear x-member.
The install is pretty straight forward for the RC. I did it by myself in a weekend. Like others have said, a little bit of know how will go a long way. I didn't regear right away and around town the truck ran ok. On the highway, different story. I bought a set of Yukon 4.56's from Randy's Ring and Pinion and had a local race shop install them. Night and day difference from the stock 3.73's to 4.56's. I also just replaced the factory front shocks and got rid of the RC coil spacer with Bilstien 5100's. Again, huge difference between stock and now.
