Questions on turning my 6" into an 8" lift!
Questions on turning my 6" into an 8" lift!
I have a 6" pro comp lift and a set of bilstein adjustables up front. I found a set of 5" rear blocks that have the factory look with bump stops (link below). What I want to do is remove the stock block, put the 5" in, and turn the 5100s up front all the way up. I know a guy on the forums has done this. I PMed him but still haven't heard from him.
My question is will this change my pinion angle majorly to where I'll have to make some more modifications for it be safe or even operable? And if so does anyone know the extent of what will need to be done to make it happen? I know some wires and hoses will need to be moved or extended. But I'm not to sure yet since i haven't torn anything apart yet. Thanks ahead of time guys!

From what i have read and whatnot, the 6" kit can have a 2" spacer used up front because the kit essentially puts you at stock levels. Cranking your bilsteins would have the same effect as using a leveling kit. As far as the rear, wouldn't 5" sit kinda low, or do you have an AAL or shackles? But it seems like it would be fine...and i think i have heard several people running this setup with the 6" RCX kit.
The rear block is like 1.5(or is it 2)+ the 6 for 7.5 so its still "6" . You don't consider the height of the stock block because it's stock. So it goes to back to 6 then take the 1.5 (2) out add the 5 in for a total of 9.5ish. Then in the front will be 6" spacer with 2" strut(I was told by 4wheel off road it's actually a little more) you will have 8-9. So I think it will be about even height.
I'm really just worried about tranny angle, rear end angle and yoke length!

You are fine with what you want to do up front by adjusting the Bilsteins to gain an additional 2". For the rear you will need to get an AAL with the 5" block. If the block is not tappered you will also need to get shims. Polyperformance carried them when I ordered. I had the 2.5" leveling kit stacked on the front of mine. Angles were steap and front was stiff. New owner has switched to Bilsteins adjusted and said it's much better. I used a 5" Tuff Country block with a 1.5" AAl in the rear along with a 2 degree shim (I think).
No I'm not stacking. I'm taking out the stick block that is still there from when u got the lift kit put on. And replacing it with the block you see in the link up top. Still same set up up that I have now just one of the blocks is taller.
I'm looking at the aal right now. So you do y'all think it will be much for the front axles?

I have the procomp stage 2 6" lift on my truck. I have a 5.5" block in the back and i have cranked the coilovers up about 2 inches. I have not had any problems and i did not have to do anything with wires or hoses. i say go for it.
As long as you stay at 6-8" up front with a 6" lift (drop down cross brackets) then your angles will be fine. The guys who were having major issues were running the 3" leveling kits. There angles were to large.
I need to better under stand what your rear set-up now is
like. From the factory you have a 2" block. Procomp has a
3" block in the Stage 1 kit that you stack on top of your
factory 2" achieving 5". If all you do is remove those two
blocks and add a 5" then you're not gaining anything. If all
you have is one 3" block in The rear then you had to have installed an AAL. And if you're considering removing the pro comp 3" block and replacing with the 5" then you'll be stacking blocks (2".+ 5"=7"). That's will be bad.

From what I saw when I last looked it was my stock block and the procomp block. The link I posted up top is one block that is a 5 with bump stops(looks just like factory but taller). If get that and remove my stock block it will be the same setup I have now that 4wheel parts installed, but it will just be taller.
Oh and I forgot. I already have aal.

So you're saying you would run the 5" block that's in the link plus the procomp block? That's giving you 8" of block. 6" is all they recommend. What I suggest is ordering the 5" block and removing the factory 2" and procomp 3". Then install tge AAL.
You already have an add a leaf in the rear on top of your 6" suspension lift you installed? Just making sure im reading this right....if i am then you are already sitting around 8" of lift in the rear.....all you need now is to do the front.
The procomp lifts initially gives you a procomp block to stack on top of the stock one that is already there.(unless you bought procomps 5 or so inch one instead of stacking with the stock one) so if that is there and the procomp block plus the AAL....rear is done. That how mine is and i cant imagine your procomp is different from mine.
