AAL or Blocks?
First off, if this has been discussed already please tell me......I have a leveling kit on my 05 SCREW. Who is running AAL and who has lift blocks in the rear? Which is better? Currently I have a coil over shock in the back that's somewhat of an overload shock. It rises rough as crap and I want something different. Also what kind of shocks are everyone running all the way around. Thanks
They both have their pros and cons, and its more of an application thing as to which is better. If your not going with a lot of lift, then a block will be fine and it will keep the ride the same, but big blocks can cause axle wrap. If you tow, then an AAL reduce sag in the back, but it will ride rougher than a block (and an AAL doesn't increase payload).
If I get the blocks, they won't be any more than 1 1/2" I believe. They are the ones from "Fat Bob's" if you are familiar. The shocks I have now in the back give it the lift I want, but without a load it's a rough ride. Thanks, are you running stock or aftermarket shocks?

It being an 05' I am sure the struts are in need or close to be in need of being replaced. Belltech makes a Lifting/Lowering Strut that can get you up to 2" of lift or 3" of drop.

i had those type of shocks on the rear you speak of. HD shock, with a "helper" spring on it. My parents towed a 28ft enclosed trailer, their 24ft travel trailer, and numerous loads of firewood, blocks etc with that setup. And never once had an issue or fear of anything breaking. And it rode rather good, even unloaded. And stuff here gets rusty, real rusty. I see no issue keeping your shock setup. Unless you personally feel it shold be changed along with the AAL/black you intend to add.
Without question, I would add Firestone Air Springs. I had a 1" block from fatbobsgarage stacked on top of my '09 1.5" block. When I bought a 7000 lb TT, I didn't want stacked blocks. I removed the 1" block and installed the air springs (easy install). The air spring adds about 0.5" at 5 PSI, 1" at 15 PSI. They don't noticeably affect the ride at low pressures, but can hold level when holding a 960 lb tongue at 30 PSI (and I have 70 more PSI to go if needed, but never would).
