suggestions on a small lift
The hardest part for me doing the body lift was taking off the spare tire cuz i had to cut some of the bed bolts under it. And the spare tire was in the way. But i couldent take it off. I struggled with it for full 2 days trying to get the spare tire off. it sucked on my back trying to turn the thing holding the tire in. I finally got it off after doing some research and finding out that there is a long rod that you stick in the bumper and you turn it and the tire drops down.
The other hard part for me was getting the fan shroud back on.
I would really like my truck to look simaliar to yours pdingman22. Are there any specialty tools needed for this because I have a great selection of handtools but I don't have any air tools or welders or anything like that.
no specialty tools needed. of course it could make it easier on yourself with some air tools. they really arent needed. imo if you can get away with out taking the spare tire off. or if you have to take it off to know how to take it off before you try taking it off it may go pretty smooth for you. maybe a few rusted on bolts will get in your way but nothing a cutting tool (wich ever method of cutting you choose) wont take care off
aaa no its not. Your gonna give him the idea its simple and hes gonna get started thinking its cake when its not. Op you can do a body lift but be prepared for it. Dont go into it thinking its easy. Its going to take alot of time and effort. Its far from simple. Ive been a mechanic for 15 years ive done just about everything and body lift is something that has takin the longest to complete.
i never said it was difficult. but it is surely not simple for one who has never done it. Getting the spare tire off is difficult. installing the body lift is as you said time consuming.

Your spare tire must have been really rusted on, I took mine off like a year ago because I didn't need it anymore and it took all of like 5 minutes and it's the first time it's ever been off the truck. And yea not hard, just time consuming to say the least and you have to make sure you pay attention to what your doing or you can end up damaging the body of your truck. I'd figure like a weekend to do the install with about a day or two of prep before hand of just constantly soaking all the body bolts in like pb blaster every couple hours, it'll really help loosen them up. But be prepared to have to cut off at least one bed bolt, it always happens because they get the most rust. I think it took me and my cousin about two days to do it in his driveway because we could only work when it was daylight out, but that was when we were 16 and neither of us is a mechanic. All in all it's simple, you just have to pay attention to what your doing and follow the directions correctly.
The easiest way to do it is to undo all the bed bolts and slide the bed back about 5" or so so you can just do the cab by itself instead of trying to do the whole truck all at once.

I installed my body lift with the help of a buddy and it was very simple and straightforward if you read the directions thoroughly ahead of time. It is just very time consuming. It took me about 12 hours. Here is a link to the install instructions, you can read over them and decide for yourself if it's something you think you can do yourself or not. http://www.performanceaccessories.co...ions/70013.pdf
i agree for doing it the first time it took about a day to complete by myself but if i would have to do it again it wouldn't take near as long, make sure you take your tow hooks off and replace them with ones from the 90s k1500s and put gap guards in the rear wheel well just a few tips

You have a BL?
alot of times people have an easier time with them when there from areas that dont have snow. cuz the damn salt and crud on the street will **** your bolts
