Get a box wrench or crescent wrench and put it on the nut you're trying to loosen, then clamp vice grips onto the very bottom of the bolt as tight as you can. Make sure you leave enough room above the vice grips for the nut to come all the way down the threads of the bolt. Make sure to get the vice grips tight so it doesn't spin under them and tear the bolt up. Works every time

That's really weird. I do that with ball joints, tie rod ends, and sway bar end links and it always works

Did it spin under the vice grips or were the vice grips staying still and the bolt spinning inside the ball joint or what?

It was spinning under the vice grips. I'm going to try my buddies impact wrench on it later today hopefully that works. Is it supposed to be that hard to get the nut off? Just hoping I didn't mess anything up because it is in my garage no like I can just drive it somewhere to get fixed.

It's strange that the vice grips aren't holding it. They always hold it when I do it. An impact wrench may work, I've never used one

Are you replacing ball joints? I only used a spring compressor to install my spacers and don't understand what you are taking the ball joint apart for.

Depends on the year of the truck, the 97-03's it's possible to do it without removing them but not the easiest way. While on the 04 and up they have coil-overs so you have to remove more.
