Need a lift for my truck
Need a lift for my truck
So I would like to go off roading, and I want to know what will work best for me. Mud is something I will be doing, but I think mostly trail races will be my thing. I would like to go around 6" and plan on trimming a lot to fit 38s. Right now I am thinking a long travel kit for the front, and I am really unsure what to do with the rear. I feel like a lot of people are going to try and say blocks, but I am actually going to be beating this thing. I do not want blocks and a stock rear suspension. I was looking at the deaver F69 pack, but its only 4". Would my best bet be custom leaf packs for 6" or what? Thanks for the help in advance!
I went on a trail last night, nothing too intense, but a lot of moguls and I don't know how long my truck will last hitting those. I want something that is actually going to stand up to a beating, not blocks or shackles. I don't think either of those would last long at all, because once I get some good meaty tires, I am going to really beat on the 150

so you want long travel but want to go in trails? 7+ inches wider will cause issues.
long travel + 38's = probably taking away alot of travel.
long travel is atleast 5k just for the front before tires, wheels, fiberglass fenders, paint, etc
38's on 6"s will not happen and be able to stuff which you will want with long travel. maybe possible with cut outs but still questionable.
mud = need alot of height, 6" lift and 4" from tires will probably not be high enough for a real mud hole
trails races in an f150, you will get your *** kicked if it's a real race and not with your friends.
you can have some things you want, but for what your describing it will not do all of what you want well.

Its hard for me to explain. Whats the best way to beef up the front suspension while giving me about 6" of lift? If I get 4-8" I will be happy as long as I can fit at least 35s. Are all those lifts from skyjacker and stuff going to hold up if I actually use them decently hard? I don't plan on doing any frame bending stuff, but would like to be able to go down a trail at 40MPH without breaking 10 different parts.
Also, just so everyone knows, if I have to I have no problem basically eliminating the fenders and the walls of the bed.

You wanna do trails and mud holes? Don't go long travel. Long travel will make you way too wide for most trails and it's meant so you can stuff tires hence long travel, putting 38's in there will kill the whole point of it. I'd recommend a sas. Its pricey, but if you beat on it as hard as you say, it'll hold up depending on axle choice of course. As for rear just go custom leaf packs, of course if you swap axles theres lots of lift leafs out there for older vehicles.
Even if you take off the fenders and the bedsides, you still have inner fenders to worry about. There's metal in the front that holds the front together that shouldn't be cut out. And you'd have to ditch the bed or cut out the wheel wells too, not just the bedsides.
