Ok I give up..

I see guys saying they had their lifts, level kits, etc installed at their dealer so it would be warrantied. I've called 4 different dealers, 2 local, 2 a ways away in St. Louis and inquired about having my daystar 1" level kit installed.

Every single one of them told me in so many words "if it's not a ford part, we can't/won't/don't recommend it being installed and could void the warranty on any other part it might cause a failure of".

Ok, now that I almost have that memorized, how can I find a dealer that is mod-friendly? Around here no Ford dealer will even entertain the idea of anything aftermarket (and warranty the install like some mention).

One place that is the closest almost looked at me like I had a 3rd eye in my forehead.

Do none of your local dealers have Jacked up brand new units on their lots? If not, find one that does. Phone the sales team at a local dealer, and ask them about buying a lifted truck, and see if they will do it, and warranty it...... Sometimes your answers lie within a little deceit.

just something to think about. my wife works for a ford dealer here in tx and we were out on the lot looking at new trucks on her day off and we were talking to the sales guy about mods, lifts, wheels and tires exhaust ect. and worried about the warranty being voided bc of the mods. he said in no way can they do that. he also said there are too many ppl these days trying to mod cars/trucks and that they dont void any warranties. he basically said its illegal for any dealer to do so. just something to think about. good luck.
if you can install the kit your self in would save some money. shops wanted to charge me 150 per side. i did it in the driveway in about an hour to hour and a half

See I did my 06 Dodge Dakota leveling kit myself and swore I'd never do it again. I keep telling myself I can do it (not an issue of can I finish it, but rather do I WANT to go through that again!). Plus it is something around the upper 90's with high humidity last week and this week.

None of the 4 I went to/called have the already-modded new units, might check a few more in St. Louis with that tip and see. thanks

This guys's an idiot and a salesman.

When a dealership installs a lift or something aftermarket like that, the dealership is warrantying the parts they installed and if they're a quality reputable dealership, they'll warranty anything affected on the truck or any problems caused from the parts they installed.

If you take it to any other dealership besides the one that did the work, they can 100% tell you to pound sand if something happened to the truck as a result of said parts.

A warrranty is a Ford Motor Company item, not a dealership item. Dealerships are not FoMoCo.

The only part that's illegal is voiding a warranty on a part/compontent/item not affected by the mod or aftermarket part. It's illegal for them to tell you your warranty is void on your air conditioner because you have a lift installed, but they absolutely can tell you your warranty is void on your ball joints or other front end components because you have a lift installed.

The scenario when buying a new, modified/lifted truck from a dealer is this; that warranty on affected components is by all practical purposes void as far as Ford is concerned. If you buy that truck and 1,000 miles later the ball joints collapse, FoMoCo can absolutely say there's no warranty on those parts because of the lift. But the dealer can/will replace them...technically not under warranty, but because they did the mod and the ball joints that went bad would have reasonably been replaced under warranty had the truck not been modified, and because they should know the lift/mod they installed and sold contributed to the failure. In this scenario, to you the customer it's pretty transparent as the dealer will tell you they're fixing it under warranty. They're doing one of two things...telling Ford a lie (about the truck not being modded) to recoup the cost of the warranty repair, or they're eating it locally. Either way, you're the customer; who cares, right?? As long as it gets fixed. That's why I say it's transparent to you. Would I buy a lifted truck that the dealer did all the work/install on?? ABSOLUTELY...without worry. But what that salesman said is incorrect.

Check Les Schwab. They do lift installs.

I had some doubts when reading that post to be honest. I know Ford can and does void warranties on things that have been modded. Thanks for the 2nd thought on that.

Do it yourself, it is to simple to pay someone to install....Seriously, all you need is a few hand tools and a jack.....

The install is so easy for it, just do it yourself and if you ever need to get a suspension part warrantied just remove it before you take it in and they'll never know.
