Two aals?

Hello all,

I am back in the running again after several months of being absent! As a lot of you know, 11 months ago I got in an accident and almost totaled my truck. The shop replaced my frame from the front seats on up and a rather odd thing happened. My front end is sitting higher... Granted, before I had a winch and grill guard on there, but I swore it was sitting higher, almost like they welded the frame higher or something, but that's cool with me, it hasn't given me any weird problems. So I thought just to be sure I would go back thru my photo album to be positive it wasn't just due to not having the grill guard and winch anymore (since they were destroyed in the accident). I found the photos and to my surprise the front end sat lower than the back before both were installed.... Now, keep in mind I had recently had an AAL installed in the rear which brought it up 2". Now, however (after the accident), my truck sits lower in the back...

So I am wondering if is is safe or practical to install another AAL (possibly a short one since the other one is a long) in the spring set. Is it safe? Will it stiffen up the ride too much? I like the stiff ride it has, but I wouldnt mind it being a little more stiff. I could use more payload capacity, and would love to sit just a little higher too. Any thoughts?

I would consider bags before 2 AALs. If you dont want to go that route maybe put in a 4" block and keep the existing AAL.

You could take the current aal out and put in a skyjacker 4" aal. That would give you an extra 2" and increase your towing capacity.

AALs (nor air bags) increase towing capacity. They help level the load and make it handle better but doesnt do anything for brakes, frame strength etc.

I agree, don't stack AALs. Get a bigger AAL, bigger block, air bags or a whole new leaf set.

X2 Obviously something gave due to your accident, I would just invest in a whole new spring pack.

Yeah, I measured it the other day and Im at 45 inches from ground to wheel well lip in, so I don't think I lost any lift in the back, but that's going off memory from the last measurement I took last year... I guess I could just buy a suspension lift to put on there
