2wd shocks to 4wd shocks?

Hi, I have 06 f150 2wd with a fabtech 6" lift and was wondering if it's possible to use 4wd shocks on my truck. Reason being is that the front struts provided in the kit ride pretty rough and the only option for upgrade at the moment are fabtech's dirt logic coil overs (+$1000 x_x). Im hoping everyone could offer some suggestions or alternative choices. Thanks

Umm you have a lot of options, and 4x4 shocks should be the same as 4x2 shocks up front.

I got the basic 6" fabtech kit except i removed the rear performance shocks and added Bilstein 5100s. I also added HBS 2.5" strut spacers in the front and 2" lift shackles to the rear

Buxton - I spoke to to bilstein and they told me they didn't have any shocks for my application

Ford12508 - I asked my mechanic and he was unsure if it would fit or not. Hence i asked you guys :O.

Thanks

That's odd that they would tell you that. Many members on here buy the 5100 leveling struts.

My fabtech kit did not come with the extenders but replaced the strut entirely leaving only the original coil spring. I did buy a pair of bilstein 5100 front shocks that were falsely advertised for my lift but actually were just the leveling struts for stock application and were very short compared to the fabtech struts.

hardrock3742 - I bought the kit and had it installed at 4 Wheel Parts. Strut spacers are extenders that mount on top of strut to provide additional lift, so a 6" lift plus another 2.5" spacers to give a total of 8.5" of lift to the front.
Shackles are like spacers for the rear end in layman terms. If you want to use bilstein 5100s for the front, be sure to get fabtech kit with the spacers instead of the ones with replacement fabtech front struts (Terrible ride in my opinion)

Oh I see you have the old style fabtech that came with the 6" struts? The new style fabtech comes with a 6" spacer. Bilstein does make a 6-8" strut that would replace those fabtechs and allow you to crank 2 more inches to sit at 8" high.

Awesome, you wouldn't happen to the part number for those struts would you? Also, can I use my oem springs or am I going to need new springs as well?
Thanks

I truly have no clue on part numbers or your spring question, but my guess would be if they don't come with new coils then you would re-use your factory ones.

Update - Contacted Fabtech tech support and asked if I could purchase and install the 6" spacers unto my kit. They told me it was not possible as the spacers were meant for the 4wd kits only. So I researched a bit online and decided to get Pro Comp's 6" spacers that come in their kits from 4 wheel parts( Hopefully they fit >_>; ). So with that I should be able to install some bilstein 5100s. I also have some bilstein 5100s for that rear except the problem was the shocks were too short and where bottoming out so I also got some rear shock extenders by Mr. Gasket. Hopefully that will fix it.
