Easiest way to install rear blocks

I wanted to get everyones opinion on whats the easiest way to install a set of rear blocks on a 10 F-150 FX4. I was wondering if you could just unbolt the u-bolts and jack up the leaf spring and then just swap out the blocks? Also another way I was told to do this was to take the tire off and remove the shock bolt. Support the axle and take off the u-bolts and drop the axle and then swap out the blocks. Looking forward to seeing what everyone says.

depends on what you have access to, a lift would be my prefered method of use...

I have done it both ways you mentioned. The first method of jacking the leaf springs was the easiest and fastest.

Let me caviot by saying one was on a Silverado 1500, the other was on a Toyota Tacoma. The leaf springs on the silverado were stiff enough as a whole to puck up the truck (so this method should work for your F150 too) off the axle to get the new blocks in. On the tacoma, they flexed in the area of the jack rather than picking the truck up so we had to remove the tire and drop the axle downward.

My vote is picking the truck up off the axle by the leafs springs and sliding the new block in.

When I installed mine I lifted the truck off the ground, then supported it up with jack stands on the frame. Then for each side, I would lift at the shock mount just enough to take the tension off the springs. Then just undo the ubolts, lower the jack down a few inches and slide the block in. Then reassemble and start on the other side.

Thanks everyone. I ended up just unbolting the stock u-bolts and jacking the leaf spring up. Once in the air I had plenty of room to swap the blocks. I think this is the easiest way with a floor jack as it only took me 30 minutes from start to finish.
