Any bumper looks terrible with a body lift if it's not raised to match.

^^^ What he said! Even the back bumpers look horrible if not lifted. On the 97-03's the rear fenders are notched in where the bumper wraps around, not to sure about 04-11's. But this indention makes it look like something is missing when the bumper doesn't get raised.

Check craigslist. They pop up for sale from time to time.

I have a 06 f150 scab 2wd and im thinking about buying a leveling kit and then getting bigger tires. What I really want tho is a 6'' or bigger suspension lift
-Close to 35"
-Around 1200 from Sears
-300 on amazon

And I would love a suspension lift but too damn expensive.

Great to see the thread has grown!!

Nettersnakes- your truck looks pretty damn good with the stance it has, shoot even with the stock painted 17s and those meats looks pretty good to me! How was the install of the Body lift? Could you post up some more pictures of your current setup as well?

Like I stated before, if adding gap guards and side steps to a body lifted rig. No one would even know or guess that it has a body lift on it, for the most part atleast.. depending on the truck application and frame rail display.

I have also noticed a positive exception with body lifting a regular cab, is that the regular cab only has a short amount of frame rail showing to begin with and its not that low or noticable after a body lift. Ive seen a few BL regular cabs after searching and have come to notice that.

Hard choice now Im thinking of tryin to save and order the Skyjacker on ebay for $1100, but could I still use the 2.5 leveling spacer with 6 skyjacker? Might be worth saving for I dunno though, depends on install price of it. I would try the install of BL for sure but the suspension lift, don't know if I could I dont have a press for spindles.

Also the body lift will only compete in pricing if first, paying to have it installed and second if spending a lot on covering up the frame or side steps.

Body lift-{kit $389, installed myself (free), homemade gap guards (bout $20 in material if that, simple and cheaper than real expensive ones) possible stock side steps or aftermarket ones anywhere from ($100-200) depending if from salvage yard truck or ordered Westin side steps) End result at most ~ Around $609 about $700 if going with real gap guards and relatively expensive side steps. I plan on it being cheaper than both, I dont see spending a lot for stock side steps from salvage yard or used ones off of craigslist. So Im guessing my end result being $500 with everything said at the most.

Suspension- The cheapest right now luckily is $1100 Skyjacker (most of course $1600-1800), Installed (500-700 possibly), So at the cheapest around $1600-1800 if going with the cheapest kit and cheaper install rate. Then include possibly needing side steps to get in truck haha another $200. So easily its a no brainer without the breakdown which is more cost affective.

Never really thought of spending that much on lifting a 2wd but I wouldnt mind if the suspension lift is cheap and I could find someone to install it for cheap.

I say the bigger the better. I have no problem lifting my 2wd. My 4wd is my tow hooks and tow hitch for when I inevitably get stuck. The body lifts a good PITA to put on but nothing that cant be done with hand tools. You also have a good amount of parts left over because its a regular cab. All in all completly worth it. And I still havent done gap guards yet cause it doesnt bug me.

Skyjacker says "NO!!!" but I have been talking to guy on this site that did it. He say no larger that 1.5" spacer but he took his off and added the bilstien 5100 shocks. Put them at the tallest level and got a extra 1" of lift. The reason skyjacker says no is bc they say that the strut wont be long enough to reach. My kit goes on in 2 wks and I am already thinking about geting the bilstiens. Its kinda like tattoos to me, once you start you are always adding and never finished. i thought 6" would be enough but I am already daydreaming about 8-9" with 37's instead of the 35's that I purchased for the this kit.

Great pics I appreciate it, shoot looks good. Id like to acutally maybe try and keep stock 20s and throw on some beefy 34-35s. Not sure yet but the pics help me out a lot thanks!

Haha yea yea I know what you mean rrozell, shoot cant wait to see your rig once you get it all on wheels tires and lift sounds like its goin to look mean! Yeah I figured they wouldnt want the leveling kit installed with the suspension lift. Maybe if your thinkin about it maybe a 1 inch spacer from daystar would work? I aint too sure yet myself but I definately want it higher.

i think a few lift manufacturers actually don't use a full 6" drop subframe, superlift IIRC has a 4.5" lift, the 6" lift is the same except the spacer (i think, been a long time since i researched lifts, same lift pimphor had) and an AAL or larger block in the rear. so that is their reasoning most likely. pro comp, fabtech, etc can fit up to a 3" spacer although same rules apply as a standard leveling kit, 3" gives excessive wear on parts)
