3" Front leveling/ 4" Rear block

Ok so I've been thinking of replacing my 2.5" Leveling Kit with a 3" Leveling kit and adding 2" of block to the rear on my 05 4x4 Lariat. I would much rather have the rear up higher than the front mostly cause I hate towing or carrying things and the truck looks like the rear suspension is not there, lol. My question is, would the rear shocks be able to handle the extra 2" of block? Now I know some of you might say that its "best" to change them out but is it absolutly necessary? Anyone tried this?

I'd be much more concerned with the premature ball joint wear the 3 inch leveling kit is going to create.

I added 3 inches of block to my 2wd and it easily overextended the shocks going over speed bumps and such... caused leaks and eventuall ruined them. So I went with the bilstein shocks for a 4x4 and they are fine. 3wd shocks are shorter thany 4x4 shocks from the factory.

I know of many who have added factory 4x4 blocks to their 2wds and have run stock shocks... You'll just have to see... otherwise a nice set of aftermarket rear shocks won't break the bank...

And Listen to Wandell...

I would not go through the trouble of taking out a 2.5 and installing a 3 inch.. for only .5 gain, that you probably wont even notice more than likely.

A nice setup I have seen on 4x4s is with a 2.5 leveling kit and adding a replacement 3 inch block for the rear. Which replaces the stock block of .."1 5/8s or whatever it is" block with a whole 3 inch block with an overall gain of little over 1 inch or so. Gives a tad rake look, without nose dive.

I just believe replacing the front spacer would be almost pointless, just go for 1-1.5 higher block in rear. That way the stock shock would still be useable. But you could always replace them with longer ones no biggie, searching like summitracing you can choose 1-3+ of added lift in the selection process.

This was my first option. I guess I'll go with that and maybe the bilstein 5100's out back.

Where is a good place to buy rear blocks? I have a 2" level kit and the truck sits perfect level until you have anything in the back.

I've been looking on eBay. You just really have to read the description before buying.

You can use the Belltech 2" lowering shackle. Its the same as the 2WD models.

Check out: fatbobsgarage, rough country, readylift, or topguncustomz, for the rear block. Topgun seem to be the cheapest, where as readylift if the more expensive.

Yeah be really sure which and what block it is.

Yeah Id add probably an 1-1.5 to the rear, too much and youll be back to the stock rake look again. These will atleast give the rear more height without too much rake. Will look good!

Interesting?

Is it a 2wd with 2.5 front and 3.5 block?

Lot of rake I suppose?
