Torsion bars

Will increasing the length of torsion bars allow for less damage over time if front end lifted with cranking or torsion keys? Or is there any "best way" to lift with torsion bars?

From what I've read on here, many times, new keys are a waste of money, and bad for your truck...

The best & easiest thing to do, ist just crank them. Somewhere someone has posted an rough estimate about how many turns = how many inches... I'll see if I can find it.

No. Different cab configurations have no affect on the wear and tear of the front end. The different torsion bar lenghts affect the spring rate and ride quality. Wear and tear on the CV and ball joints is determined by the angle they sit at.

So say I just wanted to get 2 inches out of cranking them. I should just crank and not get keys and then to not mess with the angles too much if i wanted say another 3 inches i should get a body lift? (2000 f150 4x4 xlt btw...if that makes a difference or helps with responses)

sorry if this is tedious as many people probably ask i am just uneducated on suspension lifts and want to make 100% sure that i am not going to create a whole world of trouble for myself by cranking them and then having other parts break! i got wiring and everything down just not much more haha

If you're wanting 3" I say just drop the $ and find a body lift for a decent price somewhere. You can still crank them a little as well and get it to sit level. I've seen guys who are running 35's on a 3" BL and TB Crank.

RIght. Just crank the torsion bars enough to level the truck out. If you want a little more lift, add a body lift.

It's time consuming and tedious, but it's not terrible unless you have a lot of rust on the mounting bolts.
