Question How to turn up torision bars?

Ok guys I got new wheels and tires and now want to level the front end. Its a 97 4x4. So several people on here have suggested I just turn up the torrison bars. In order to do this will I need to put the front end on jackstands and take the wheels off or not? I know you need to turn each side an equal amount of turns but how much should you turn each side is it just something you have to keep trying to get the right amount of lift. I dont need much. I just need to make sure the new 33's will fit. I know this is a stupid question but after this is done will I need to get an alignement or will it be ok. I love my truck and have had it for years but just recently started doing mods myself so please any help is appriciated. Thanks Guys!

you dont need to take the tires off. just crank them the same amount. to level it i think the bolts should almost be bottomed out in the block. when you drop the truck back down, it wil be a lil bit higher at first but take it around the block to settle the suspension. i advise you get an alignment shortly after, cranking the t bars toe's in your wheels. i slacked off on my 03 ranger when i did the tbars and 33's, and cooked my bearings

Take measurements before you start

1. Jack truck up
2. Place jack stands
3. Locate torsion bar adjustment key bolts
4. Spray bolts with PB Blaster
5. Make heads on bolts so you can accurately judge the amount of turns
6. Start with 3 complete 360* turns on each side.
7. Drop the truck down
8. Drive around the block let the suspension cycle (drive slowly over speed bumps works nice)
9. Take measurements and see what you gained.

Some people jack the truck up , some don't. Just be sure to get an alignment afterwards.

depends on the actual size.

my 285/75/16 fit without leveling the truck out but i liked the level look better.

305/75/16 would need alittle cranking of the t-bars to avoid rubbage.

I had 36x12.5x16 Super Swamper TSL's on my truck with the t-bars cranked and a 3" Performance Accessories body lift
