04 Front End Rattle, Help plz

When my truck (04 Lariat Crew) goes over any slight bump or variation in the road I get a rattle that sounds like re-bar bouncing around. I have hunted for it profusly and have found not a darn thing. I'm not sure if the load on the suspension is hiding it from me or what. It only happens when its cold out side and there is no vibration only the noise. I have defeated the IWE beast so thats not it, checked over the control arms upper and lower when replacing my hubs (due to 4x4 not working in the snow...but thats another story). Iam at a loss. and of course we are finishing out a parking deck right now and it just echos like a friggin train horn through that thing. I cant recreate the noise jumping around on the truck, I have climed all though the undercairrage banging and shaking everything I can get my hands on. and now I ask you....Help.

Have you grabbed your strut or shock and given them a twist? My rear shock bushing is worn and causes a metal banging/clanging noise that sounds like it is coming from the front. Worth a look..

Wink

i'll give that a whirl, found another thread on here that suggested a hoist bracket going to give that one a try today. in searching around the net I've found that there are alot of people having this issue true it could be a multitude of things but it is also happening on brand new trucks 09-10 raptors, lariats, fx4's, ect... I would be furious if I spent close to 50K on a truck and then it rattled like my 04. especially a raptor that was modled off of a friggin cup truck.. im hoping that mine is the bracket, that would be bleeping sweet

My truck is also making that exact same noise. I'm going to take a look and see if I can figure it out tomorrow. I noticed it started last week and it's getting worse. It is the most noticeable when I'm going slow over bumps. I can hear the noise as well as feel it in the floor and steering wheel.

check brake components, shocks, hubs, steering linkage, control arms, and maybe check to see that the front diff in all torque down

check your REAR shocks, upper and lower mounting bolts for proper torque. I'll bet there loose, mine would keep working loose ( only lost ~4lb-ft from torque spec) and would rattle like crazy till i put some locktite on them and retorqued.

I found the problem with my truck, the cv axle. I found it by having someone rock the truck back and forth while standing on the running board as I'm listening underneath. I also noticed grease all around the area from a rip in the boot. With the moisture getting in and the grease coming out and the sound I heard I'm sure this is the issue.

I'm having the same problem it seems. Got a knock coming from the front left side of the truck over small bumps and cracks, I can feel it right under my left foot. Got under the truck yesterday and everything is tight, nothing broken. Control arms, ball joints, tie rods and endlinks have all been done in the last 3k miles.

Any one else solve this?
