suggestions for axle wrap problem oem 4x4

Hi Gents,

My '01 supercrew 4x4 has what seems like an axle wrap problem.

while i have heavy duty Tbars up front, the rear is stock.

This is a daily driver that i get in the dirt as often as possible.
What suggestions for axle wrap solutions might you all know of?

Thx in advance, jackc...

Ya the simpliest thing would be to buy some traction bars, procomp makes some for your model for around $500 for a set.

Aside from the traction bars, which you may need;

A tech tip from Ford was to Pull your driveshaft and grease the inside splines on the front yolk that slides in to your transmission.

Because of the lack of grease, the yolk sticking and getting that wheel wrap feeling has been known to be an issue.

Good call, sounds like the fix to this issue. Not saying its not possible to have axle wrap on a stock truck, but its more often experienced with stock suspension after bigger power adders have been placed on vehicle. I have seen diesels with this problem after chipped, but their chips can produce much greater gains than our gas trucks.

Depending on your power level, this may be enough:

You can also flip your passenger side shock mount. You probably find an upper mount for this from someone with a Lightning who has done just the opposite. It's a cast iron part that bolts on the inside of the frame rail.
