Garage Height for 12" Rize Lift and 40s ????

In order for me to execute on my next build, my garage door opening needs to be lifted first. Need to make a home for it first right

Right now I am at 7ft; my last lifted F150 was a 6" ProComp lift, which cleared by 2 inches.

What height garage door opening do I need to clear a 2008 F150 FX4 with a 12" Rize Lift and Toyo 40s?

Can someone measure for me thanks

96" ?
100" ?
108" ?

A 10'-12' door will give you enough.

Measure how tall your truck is now, add 12 inches for the lift, plus the extra height the new tires are divided by 2.

If you went to 40s from 35s, it would be 40-35=5, 5/2=2.5, so 14.5 inches more.

I would measure it, however I sold it in August and bought a SVT Raptor.

I miss my lifted truck , so I am building a new one

Any one interested in buying a Black/Black SVT Raptor loaded with every option, 4K miles?

This might work except rize lifts run large.. A rize 8" comes to nearly 9.5" when installed, just the lift with no extras to gain lift. I'd bet the 12" runs the same, so say 13.5" around about.. This larger than advertised issue stems from the unique front spacer rize uses on the coil springs. The formula should hold true for tires though.

Here are some photos of my first lifts:

Both have been ProComp 6" Lifts with ProComp 35s

Oh ya, the last garage bay is the one being lifted

OK, am I just a complete tool or what?? (Don't answer that) This question comes up every now and then and all I can think is seriously?? You can't figure out how much more opening you will need??

1) Pull your truck under the door frame and measure how much clearance you have at the tightest spot.

2) Figure out how much lift the tires will give you. If you have 32" tires now and you're going to a 40", that will give you 4" of lift. (divide the difference in diameter by 2)

3) Add in the 12" for the lift kit. In this case 12".

4) Subtract this number (16" [12+4=16"]) to the number from step 1. If it's a negative number, then that's how much you need to increase your opening. I would be conservative and add on another solid inch or two for good measure.

I made my first statement because you can't go by others measurements. Your truck is different, your driveway may sit different, etc. You need to measure your truck against your stuff. That wold be hilarious to take someone else's measurements, spend all that time and money, and then come up an inch short. Sorry to sound like a jerk, not trying to be. But here's an example...

My last house (with this truck and lift), if you measured my truck and measured my garage, there was no way it would fit. It came up almost three inches short. BUT, My driveway was sloped enough and the slope ended at the entrance to the garage where it then leveled out. It had just enough slope to it that when you pulled in the garage, the cab would make it all the way in the frame before the rear axle got to the top of the slope. I knew this would work out that way because I measured the way I did in my instructions instead of going off someone else's truck or measurements. Mine was a success story, but the moral of the story is, this scenario could easily go the other way.

Thanks, however as I mentioned I have a SVT Raptor now and have not bought my next F150 yet.

Based on what people are saying here, the Rize Lifts are acutally and inch or two higher than indicated and same with tires.

Yes, I can estimate 96", but just looking to see if anyone out there has a Rize 12' running 40s that could measure for me.

Mhockey has one, but he is currently serving overseas (a big thanks to him ). He is the only one I know of that is a regular here that would be able to get you a close measurement, possibly (assuming his family would measure or he knew off the top of his head). If others here have the rize 12" I must have missed them or they don't post much...

I think im the only one running a 12inch Rize that is a regular around here now. Only other one i knew of was aflores ( something like that ) but have not seen him around here for a year or so. Only problem is my measurements wont give you a good idea considering im running 17inches of lift not just the 12inch Rize. Thanks alot though
